Abstract

PALM-4U is a modern, reliable and validated microclimate model developed and used by Deutscher Wetterdienst, and meteorological services and practitioners all over Europe. Currently, use of this software requires maintaining configuration files, interfacing through a command-line interface, and using external tools for offline visualization of results. The aim of this thesis is to integrate the PALM-4U model into the scenario-based visual simulation steering software Visdom to enable the interactive setup and changes of simulation parameters as well as the visual inspection and analysis of intermediate and final simulation results.

Bio

Kim Schmider is a Master's student in Computational Science & Engineering at TU Wien focusing on high performance implementation of numerical models. In his work with VrVis, he engages in development on Visdom to combine different types of simulations in a simulation steering tool to aid decision makers in urban planning. In his free time, he enjoys tinkering with electronics and hiking.
