Biography

Mathieu Le Muzic is a research assistant and PhD student in visual computing at the Vienna University of Technology, Austria. He received the MSc degree in computer science from the Trinity College Dublin, Ireland, in September 2012. After his graduation, he worked as a software engineer at 3DEXCITE, formerly known as RTT, in Munich, Germany. He then started the PhD program shortly afterwards, in June 2013. His research interests include interactive rendering and visualization of large and dynamic molecular datasets. He has co-authored several articles in prestigious journals such as Computer Graphics Forum and IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics. He has cooperated with researchers around the world and from diverse areas such as experts in biology and famous scientific illustrators. In 2014 in stayed at the Department of Informatics, University of Bergen, Norway, for a duration of one month as a visiting scholar. In 2015 he also stayed at the Department of Computer Graphics and Design, Masaryk University Brno, Czech Republic, where he gave a series of lectures to master and PhD students on GPU programming with Unity3D. In 2016 he visited the Molecular Graphics Laboratory in the Scripps Institute, San Diego, for a duration of 3 months. During his stay, he collaborated with Arthur Olson, David Goodsell and Ludovic Autin to develop and improve real-time rendering tools for viewing large molecular datasets created with cellPACK. Refer to his Curriculum Vitae for further details.
