The pyramidal representation

  Here "pyramide" indicates a full resolution set, "octree" some subset of the pyramide.
Every node of the pyramide contains

• the average RGBA value of all its children
• the average deviation error approximating the region of space associated with the node with a constant function equal to the node's RGBA value:

  

  can be computed by a single traversal of the pyramid.
