Two ways of visualizing 3D data sets:
- extracting isosurfaces from the volumetric data by casting rays from the
viewer's eye through the screen into the volume and finding the intersection
of the surface with the dataset.
- direct visualization of a semi-transparent and self-iluminated volume.
Interpolation is necessary in both algorithms.
