The trilinear interpolation of color and opacity of a sample within a voxel is replaced by adaptive interpolation: depending on the homogenity of the surrounding voxels, the interpolation will be constant, linear or non-linear. The different areas are detected via Wavelet decomposition: If the detail projection of the Wavelet decomposition of the analysed area with respect to a certain Basis is zero, the areas has constant, linear or non-linear behaviour depending on the selection of basis functions.
