Volumedata and geometric objects are used in their own structure to maintain high image quality. Two visualization pipelines are traversed, one for volumedata and another for geometric objects. The rendering process is implemented as a raytracing method, which casts a ray into both data structures at the same time.

Both pipelines can be computed in a parallel way (except the rendering). A speedup at multiprocessor-systems is expected.
