FileRing

FileRing is an interactive graphical file manager programmed by Alexander Kusternig and Georg Semanek for the Information Visualization course at the UNiversity of Technology, Vienna, Austria in spring 2004.

In fact you can use FileRing as an alternative for your common file manager. Okay, itīs not a really alternative yet, but you can try it and find out how (godd)= it works.

The key issue is, that itīs a radial Visualization concept, which is used here. We used the paper "InterRing: An Interactive Tool for Visually Navigating and Manipulating Hierarchical Structures Jing Yang, Matthew O. Ward and Elke A. Rundensteiner InfoVis2002 Page(s): 77 ff" as our inspiration. This paper can be found here.

At the end of our term we have finished the key issues of a file manager, which we now shortly present. For further information please read the help file or contact us.

In this downloadable version you can: cut, copy, paste, rename, delete, create new files and folders, display your files in different views, edit views and create many rings of different folder or drives of your computer. As we said, for detailed information about all the functions of this program, please read the help file or ask us.
