Description
This project involves digitally decorating a real-life tree, positioned at user-specified geographical coordinates, with Christmas decorations. The tree could be adorned with snow or snowflakes, lights, ornaments, a tree top, and ribbons or bows.
Tasks
The student will decorate in a Christmas setting a real-life tree, existing at a specified geographic location by inputting its latitude and longitude coordinates. As a starting point, the tree model could be inferred either from its species (fir, spruce, larch, etc.) or from its point cloud coming from laser-scanning data. We could afterward generate a real-world scene surrounding that tree in a winter atmosphere setting.
Requirements
- Knowledge of English language (source code comments and final report should be in English)
- Good programming skills
- Familiarity with QGIS software or digital mapping tools is useful, but not required
- Curiosity and Creativity
Environment
The project should be implemented as a standalone application, desktop or web-based (to be discussed).
