Traditionally, virtual reality systems use 3D computer graphics to model and render environments. Developing solutions often requires special hardware rendering at a high cost. Rendering quality and scene complexity are often limited because of the real-time constraint. A possible solution is using panoramic images simulating camera panning and zooming in combination with "hopping" through parts of the virtual space by using well-defined paths between panoramic-views, making it possible to reduce data along this paths to simple images. An additional requirement often needed is the support of 3D-object-viewing to enrich virtual space´s consistence.
